WaterGnome - Water Does Wonders

Returns & Lifetime Limited Warranty

Last updated: September 15, 2026

At WaterGnome, we want you to feel confident about your purchase. That's why eligible WaterGnome systems may be returned within 30 days of delivery — even if the system has been installed — subject to the terms below.

We also back our systems with a Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty covering defects in eligible non-consumable system parts for as long as the original purchaser owns the system.

1. 30-Day Returns — New or Used Systems

There are no restocking fees on eligible returns.

Changed your mind? No problem.

We understand that you can't truly experience a water filtration system until it's installed. That's why an eligible WaterGnome system may be returned for a 100% refund of the product purchase price within 30 days of confirmed delivery — whether it is unopened, or has already been installed and used.

There are no restocking fees on eligible returns, and we do not reduce your refund simply because a system was opened, installed, or used. WaterGnome may still deduct or deny a refund for actual damage, missing components, abuse, alteration, or other conditions specifically excluded by this return policy.

To qualify:

  • The return is requested within 30 days of confirmed delivery.
  • The complete system is returned with all original parts, components, and accessories.
  • The equipment has not been abused, improperly modified, frozen, physically damaged, or operated outside its intended specifications.
  • Components are not missing.
  • The system is packaged appropriately for return transportation.

Opening the packaging to inspect your WaterGnome system does not by itself make the system used or ineligible for a full product refund. Whenever reasonably possible, please retain the original packaging until you are satisfied with your system.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for:

  • Removal and uninstallation of the system
  • Plumber or contractor charges
  • Return shipping and freight
  • Packaging required for safe return transportation
  • Any other third-party costs associated with returning the system

Installation charges, plumbing charges, expedited shipping charges, permit fees, and other third-party expenses are not refundable. WaterGnome does not reimburse installation or uninstallation expenses.

Financed Purchases (Affirm)

Purchases made using Affirm or another third-party financing provider are also eligible for this 30-day return policy. For approved financed returns, WaterGnome will refund the eligible WaterGnome purchase price through the original financing provider.

Any interest, financing charges, lender fees, or other amounts charged by a third-party financing provider are governed by that provider's terms and may not be refundable. For example, financing providers such as Affirm may not refund interest that has already been paid or accrued.

2. Contact Us Before Removing Your System

Please contact WaterGnome before uninstalling or returning your system.

Many water-treatment concerns can be caused by installation configuration, water pressure, flushing, filter placement, bypass settings, or other issues that may be resolved without removing the equipment.

Our team will be happy to help troubleshoot the system first.

Choosing to troubleshoot does not eliminate your right to request an eligible return within the applicable 30-day return period.

3. How the 30-Day Period Works

The return period begins on the date your order is shown as delivered by the shipping carrier.

You must contact WaterGnome and request a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) within 30 calendar days of delivery.

Once an RMA is issued, the product must be shipped within 14 calendar days, unless WaterGnome agrees otherwise in writing.

Returns sent without authorization may experience processing delays or may be refused.

4. Return Shipping

Unless the return is the result of an error by WaterGnome or otherwise required by applicable law, customers are responsible for return transportation costs.

WaterGnome systems can be large and heavy. We strongly recommend using a trackable and appropriately insured shipping or freight service.

The customer is responsible for adequately packaging returned equipment.

WaterGnome is not responsible for damage that occurs because a returned product was inadequately packaged.

5. Inspection and Refunds

Returned products will be inspected after they are received.

For unused returns, WaterGnome will verify that the system is complete and remains in new or like-new, resalable condition.

For installed-system returns, WaterGnome will verify that the system is complete and has not been damaged through misuse, improper installation, improper removal, freezing, excessive pressure, modification, neglect, or other excluded circumstances.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method.

Refunds are based on the actual product price paid after discounts or promotions.

Applicable sales taxes will be refunded as required by law.

Original expedited shipping charges, installation costs, plumbing charges, permits, labor, removal charges, and other third-party expenses are not refundable.

6. Products Damaged in Transit

If your order arrives damaged, do not install the damaged component.

Contact WaterGnome as soon as reasonably possible and retain the original packaging.

We may request photographs or video showing:

  • The shipping carton or pallet
  • Shipping label
  • Packaging
  • Visible damage
  • Damaged components

Shipping damage reported promptly will be handled separately from a standard return and does not require the customer to accept a reduced refund because the equipment arrived damaged.

7. Defective Products

A defective product is handled under our Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty rather than our standard installed-system return process.

If you believe something is defective, contact WaterGnome before removing or replacing the component.

We may be able to diagnose and resolve the problem remotely.

8. Items Not Eligible for Standard Return

Except where otherwise required by law, the following may not qualify for a standard return:

  • Products returned more than 30 days after delivery
  • Custom or specially manufactured products
  • Equipment damaged by improper installation
  • Equipment damaged during removal or return transportation
  • Products that have been materially altered or modified
  • Products damaged by freezing
  • Products damaged by excessive water pressure
  • Products damaged by fire, flood, lightning, natural disaster, or other external causes
  • Products damaged through misuse, neglect, abuse, or accident
  • Products with missing major components
  • Individual filters, cartridges, membranes, or filtration media that have been opened, wetted, installed, or used
  • Products purchased from an unauthorized third-party seller

These restrictions do not limit warranty rights for qualifying product defects or any rights that cannot legally be limited.

9. Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty

WaterGnome stands behind the quality of its equipment.

Eligible WaterGnome systems purchased directly from WaterGnome include a Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship in eligible non-consumable system components under normal residential use.

What “Lifetime” Means

For purposes of this warranty, Lifetime means for as long as the original purchaser owns the original WaterGnome system.

The warranty begins on the original purchase date.

The warranty is provided to the original purchaser and is not transferable unless WaterGnome expressly agrees otherwise in writing.

Replacement of a component does not create a new warranty period.

10. What the Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty Covers

The warranty covers eligible non-consumable WaterGnome system components that fail because of a defect in materials or workmanship during normal residential use.

Depending on the system, covered components may include items such as:

  • Filter housings
  • System tanks
  • Control valves
  • Manifolds
  • Brackets
  • Structural system components
  • Fittings originally supplied as part of the system
  • Other non-consumable components originally supplied with the WaterGnome system

If WaterGnome determines that an eligible component has failed because of a covered defect, WaterGnome may, at its option:

  • Provide a replacement component;
  • Repair the component; or
  • Provide another appropriate remedy.

Replacement components may be new, functionally equivalent, or manufacturer-approved replacement parts.

If an identical component is no longer available, WaterGnome may provide a reasonably equivalent replacement.

11. Consumable Items Are Not Lifetime Components

Filters and filtration media naturally wear out or become exhausted through normal use.

The Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty therefore does not cover normal replacement of consumable components, including:

  • Sediment filters
  • Carbon filters
  • Catalytic carbon
  • FilterSorb® media
  • Reverse osmosis filters
  • Reverse osmosis membranes
  • Alkaline or mineral cartridges
  • Other replaceable filtration media
  • Other components intended to be periodically replaced as part of routine maintenance

A consumable component may still be covered if WaterGnome determines that the component itself was defective when supplied rather than simply depleted through normal use.

12. What the Warranty Does Not Cover

The Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty does not cover failure, damage, or deterioration caused in whole or in part by circumstances other than a covered defect in materials or workmanship, including:

  • Improper installation
  • Installation contrary to supplied instructions
  • Improper plumbing
  • Improper electrical connections
  • Improper system configuration
  • Improper drain connections
  • Improper removal or reinstallation
  • Unauthorized alterations or modifications
  • Use of incompatible components
  • Abuse, misuse, or neglect
  • Accidental or physical damage
  • Freezing
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Lightning
  • Earthquake
  • Severe weather
  • Acts of God or natural disaster
  • Excessive or insufficient water pressure
  • Water hammer or pressure spikes
  • Failure of a pressure regulator
  • Thermal expansion
  • Plumbing-system failure
  • Well-system failure
  • Water conditions outside the operating specifications of the equipment
  • Exposure to temperatures outside specified operating ranges
  • Exposure to chemicals or contaminants not intended for the system
  • Failure to perform required maintenance
  • Failure to replace consumable filters or media when required
  • Continued operation after a known malfunction
  • Damage caused by another appliance, plumbing component, contractor, installer, or third party
  • Commercial, industrial, or other use for which the equipment was not designed
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Cosmetic discoloration, scratching, fading, or appearance changes that do not affect operation

13. Water Pressure and Installation Requirements

Water treatment equipment operates as part of a home's plumbing system.

It is the owner's and installer's responsibility to verify that the plumbing system and incoming water pressure are appropriate for the WaterGnome equipment being installed.

Where necessary, appropriate pressure-regulating, pressure-relief, expansion-control, backflow-prevention, drainage, or other plumbing devices should be installed by a qualified professional.

Damage caused by excessive pressure, pressure spikes, water hammer, thermal expansion, freezing, or improper plumbing conditions is not considered a product defect.

14. Professional Installation

WaterGnome may provide information about independent plumbers or installers in a customer's area as a convenience.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, these plumbers and contractors are independent third parties and are not employees or agents of WaterGnome.

Customers are responsible for selecting and contracting with their installer.

WaterGnome is not responsible for workmanship, property damage, plumbing damage, code violations, leaks, or other losses caused by an independent installer or contractor.

Warranty coverage for a defective WaterGnome component remains subject to the terms of this warranty regardless of which qualified professional performs the installation.

15. Labor Is Not Included

The Lifetime Limited Parts Warranty is a parts warranty.

Unless WaterGnome expressly agrees otherwise in writing, the warranty does not pay for:

  • Installation labor
  • Removal labor
  • Reinstallation labor
  • Plumber charges
  • Contractor charges
  • Diagnostic charges
  • Service-call charges
  • Travel charges
  • Permit or inspection fees
  • Wall, flooring, cabinetry, landscaping, or property repairs
  • Loss of water service
  • Loss of use
  • Alternate accommodations
  • Other third-party expenses

Customers are responsible for labor associated with diagnosing, removing, installing, or replacing warranty components.

16. Shipping of Warranty Parts

WaterGnome may require the defective component to be returned for inspection.

Shipping requirements and responsibility for transportation costs will be communicated when the warranty claim is approved.

WaterGnome may require reasonable documentation before shipping a replacement component.

17. Making a Warranty Claim

To request warranty service, contact WaterGnome and provide:

  • Your name
  • Original order number or other proof of purchase
  • Product or system information
  • Installation address
  • Description of the problem
  • Photographs or video if requested
  • Water pressure information if relevant
  • Water-quality information if relevant
  • Installer information if relevant

WaterGnome may require reasonable troubleshooting before authorizing replacement of a component.

Do not discard a component involved in a warranty claim until WaterGnome confirms that it may be discarded.

18. Limitation of Warranty

This warranty applies only to qualifying defects in WaterGnome equipment and does not make WaterGnome responsible for conditions originating elsewhere in the home's plumbing, water supply, electrical system, property, or installation.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, WaterGnome is not responsible under this limited warranty for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from a component failure, including damage to surrounding property or loss of use.

Some states do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.

19. Your Legal Rights

This policy provides specific contractual rights.

You may also have additional rights under federal, state, or local law.

Nothing in this policy is intended to waive or limit any consumer right or remedy that cannot legally be waived or limited.

If applicable law provides greater protection than this policy, applicable law will control.
